There’s little or  no flu around at the moment. Should we wait until the flu hits before vaccinating staff?

No. You should not wait for flu activity to be rising or high in the community. While flu activity may be low, it could begin increasing at any time. Remember, after being vaccinated, it takes about two weeks to develop antibodies that protect against flu.

When’s the best time to get vaccinated?

Annual vaccination should ideally occur before the onset of each flu season. The period of peak flu circulation is typically June to September in most parts of Australia. However, influenza epidemiology may be atypical this year, particularly in the context of COVID-19 and the return of international travel. We recommend April – June for your workplace flu vaccination clinic.

What’s the difference between COVID-19 and the Flu?
