In recent years there have been numerous fatalities involving the collapse of masonry structures. Masonry structure failures have occurred at a range of workplaces including residential and commercial construction and demolition sites. In each instance a change had occurred such as recent construction, recent demolition or the addition of extra load.
Employers and ‘persons conducting a business or undertaking’ (PCBU’s) have a duty to ensure a workplace that is safe and without risk to health and safety.
Change Management Plan
An effective way to ensure this duty is met is the recognition, evaluation and control of changes through a Change Management Plan. A Change Management Plan ensures that the hazards created by the change are appropriately managed, workplace conditions are monitored continuously and that the controls are effective.
Is your workplace change resistant or do you use Change Management Plans to ensure everyone knows what’s happening, why it’s happening and how it will be implemented?
