Australia's Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) are changing from 1 December 2026, introducing one of the most significant updates to occupational exposure standards in recent history.
Australia's revised Workplace Exposure Limits introduce one of the largest updates to occupational exposure standards in recent history
Detect workplace hazards. Protect your people.
The revised Workplace Exposure Limits include regulatory changes affecting 278 hazardous substances, with updated exposure limits, revised advisory notations and changes to the regulatory treatment of hazardous airborne contaminants. In addition, 33 carcinogenic substances will no longer have a numerical Workplace Exposure Limit and will instead be regulated as Non-Threshold Genotoxic Carcinogens (NTGCs).
For many organisations, these changes represent more than a legislative update. They provide an opportunity to review workplace hazards, assess worker exposure and ensure existing control measures continue protecting employees before the revised standards commence.
